About Hanham Athletic
Welcome to Hanham Athletic Football Club.
As one of the area’s longest-standing community clubs, Hanham Athletic FC carries a proud history dating back to around 1896. Formed in the mining village of Hanham near Bristol, our roots run deep in local tradition. Known affectionately as “The Miners,” the club’s identity has always been shaped by hard work, togetherness, and the spirit of the community that built it.
Over the decades, Hanham Athletic has enjoyed memorable spells in the Western League and Gloucestershire County League, along with appearances in the FA Cup and FA Vase. While football has changed and leagues have shifted, one thing has always remained constant the club’s commitment to offering football for all and representing the community with pride.
Since taking on the role of chairman in 2024, I’ve been incredibly proud of the progress we’ve made together. Alongside our established adult sides, we have introduced a growing youth section that gives young players a pathway into the game and fosters the next generation of Miners. Seeing families, volunteers, and players come together around this expansion has been one of the most rewarding parts of the journey so far.
Our motto remains simple and unchanged: community first.
Our committee proudly welcomes everyone new players, supporters, volunteers, and visitors alike. We continue to look for opportunities, events, and initiatives that bring people together and showcase what this club stands for.

Hospitality
Hospitality we offer a wide range of drinks (tea/coffee, soft
drinks) and Snacks from the Hallett Construction Pavillion
before/during the game. If you are planning to drink pitch-side, you will be served your drink In a plastic glass. Hot food for both teams will be available to all players and officials after the game in the Club House. Everyone is welcome to join us.
First Aid
First Aid we have a number of Qualified First Aiders at Hanham Athletic F.C. and a full list can be found in the Club House on the Noticeboard. Public Access Trauma First Aid Kit (PAcT) – these kits are available for anyone to use, even without training to treat serious, life threatening injuries.
